THE VOICE AND THE SPELL
despite the popularity of Washington Benavides, is the first book devoted entirely to him and his work. Through his prolific output, the poet Tacuarembó born has become a real pillar and a reference work of Uruguayan culture. Nearly half a thousand songs hold his own. The most representative voices of Uruguayan music (Zitarrosa, Los Olimareños, Viglietti, Numa Moraes, Darnauchans, Carlos Benavides, Larbanois-Carrero, Jorge Bonaldi, etc) have given their popularity texts often divorced from the author's name, which thus enjoys a secret glory which he knew held in his poem "The songs" Manuel Machado.
The book gives the word Benavides allowing himself a "heart to heart dialogue" with the reader, who will know the path of life a man who has been a witness committed their time and a major promoter of our culture, both of which are evident also in its abundance has published work in which man engages in the discussion of the history and the poet with the word (with himself as a builder of both) through a poetic tone conversational, accessible, uplifting reveals a dimension of everyday life.

The importance and influence of Jules Laforgue in contemporary poetry are strong. The most often cited as recipients of such influence have been Ezra Pound and TS Eliot and overlooks the River Plate in the verses of Lugones, Güiraldes or Julio Herrera y Reissig, but the list can be long and go from Guillaume Apollinaire to Luis Pimentel in English and include all those poets who read Jules and endorsed the stamp colloquial and free and skeptical irony, the peculiar adjectives and landscapes where the moon becomes a symbol of existential exile. The Pierrot figure of a rebellious, attention to peasant sensuality and the questioning of bourgeois mores, inspired later poets Laforgue making one of the leading voices of universal poetry.
